Hulls

There are nine different hulls currently available to research in the Naval Lab, with each one progressively more capable in combat but slower in speed than the last, excluding the Sea wolf and Predator Submarine which serve as niche or specialty ships.

Gunboat

The Gunboat hull is the default hull, and is unlocked when the game is first joined. It is described as a "small motorboat". best use as a scout boat because of its speed. Also this ship can be repaired instantly. It is also commonly used as a lead ship with predator submarines.

 Skirmisher

The Skirmisher hull is the first hull a player may unlock, and is described as a "lightly armored hovercraft". The Skirmisher is featured on the loading screen for Battle Pirates. Best used as an "armored' scout boat.
Skirmishers are a good early on replacement for the Gunboat, able to use much heavier weapons and armor. They are used mostly up until players have researched the Longship, (and switched to using only using Long ships thereafter). They do, however make good scouts, resource thieves and probe ships alongside Gunboats, even at much higher player levels.
They can also be used as flagships for fleets composed of much larger ships, masking the true intent of a fleet, baiting players into attacking the fleet looking for an easy kill.

 Longship

The Long ship hull is the second hull a player may unlock, and is described as a "highly mechanized frigate". The Long ship is the first hull to have more than one Weapon Slot and one Armor Slot. Best used to destroy weak scout boats and are also known to be used by high end players as submarine hunters. Attach torpedo's and a Sonar pod special to these and they become a hazard to pvp scout fleets. Also great for their fast to instant repair times.

The Marauder hull is the third hull a player may unlock, and is described as a "heavily armored hovercraft". The Marauder's shape appears to be heavily based upon the Longship's, with the addition of 2 fins on each side. This hull is best to attack important locations that are averagly armed.
This is the second ship hull that has a Special Item slot and the last ship to receive an Evade bonus.

Predator Submarine

Lightweight hull that can submerge itself underwater for a period of time. Great for sneak fleet attacks. This ship is refit-able, can only be equipped with the Havok Torpedoes and can fire both surfaced and submerged. While the sub is submerged it is invulnerable to ship weapons and invisible when far enough away. By carefully controlling a sub it is possible to defeat much stronger fleets. The Predator Submarine is a good counter to any ship with weapons that have a minimum range bigger than that of the havok torpedoes. The sub disappears, by the time it reappears its within the minimum range of the ship. The Predator Submarine cannot be a fleet flagship, so you cannot make fleets consisting purely of Predator Submarines.

Sea Wolf

The Sea wolf  is a agile ship and has quite a high combat and turn speed similar to the marauder. It is described as a fast and agile destroyer and has 5 weapon slots and 3 special slots. However it only has 1 armor slot so try to keep it out the range of enemy fire. It is best equipped with a lot of mortars as it can stay out of range of enemy ships with its speed and then rain mortars on them, but are a poor choice to use against player bases due to the lack of armor.

Floating Fortress

The Floating Fortress hull is described as "the largest ship on the high seas". Being the most capable hull, each Floating Fortress hull takes over a week to build. On the Kixeye Forums, the Floating Fortress is often used as a running gag, used to represent 'instant death'. Best used for mining, Floating Fortresses can hold massive amounts of resources and are easily defensible. The engine special attachment is very good with this as it is the slowest hull in the game. This is the most common ship used in player base attacks for higher levels.

===G This hull, which appeared to be forged from 2 ships (more specifically KIXEYE's player rejected new ship designs ) & a highly modified 'oil rig' structure, was rewarded to anyone achieving 22 million points in Base Invaders IV. It's an insanely strong base defending ship. It has a ballistic bonus range of 39%. Making thud cannon 4 with Hardened Barrels 3 a 92 range weapon. It is worth to be noted, that the Floating Fortress are no longer "the largest ship on the high seas", & that the Draconian's Dreadnought are no longer invincible with the arrival of this monster .

Mercenary Fleets

Mercenary Fleets are gained by your friends on Facebook who also play the game and have chosen to send you a free gift. The option to send free gifts tab can be found at the top left of the game console. You can deploy one Mercenary Fleet every 12 hours and it lasts for 12 hours.
Mercenary Fleets utilize only the technology and hulls you have researched (Three ships of your highest hull* and 2 ships of you second highest*).

 Ship Ranks

Each ship rank grants that ship a percent increase of firing rate and turning speed. The amount of experience points needed for a ship to advance from one rank to the next is dependent on the type of ship.  Having higher ship ranks gives your fleet a huge boost in damage, fleet experience can be gained by attacking any npc/player forces or bases.

    3. You can always use D-53s. But do use missiles. It is the MISSILE Cruiser after all, and gets bonuses to Penetrating weapons. Using anything else with it is a complete waste, seeing as there is invariably some other ship that does it far better and was easier to get.

    1. Depends what you want to do with it. For weekly raids, Thuds with Hardened Barrels and Auto Loader. For FvF, your best missiles, likely Cuts or D-51s, plus either Laser Targeting/Enhanced Warheads and SFB. I'd recommend the Ballistic build since having a good raid fleet should be pretty much top priority. bpoutpost.com has some builds you can try too.

  8. Great site! Floating fortress A is not here. Some basic models like from Sea scorpion and hammerhead do not have evade bonus.
