PVP Ship Combat Tips

Unlike Base combat, Ship combat has no level restrictions, and so long as the ship is not moving, it can be attacked by other players.

Upon engaging in combat both players are given notice that one of their fleets have entered combat, and given an option to "join" the fight or to "hide" the nofitication. Players typically "join" the fight so that they may both observe the battle and to control their fleets.

The fleets are placed some distance apart & their map location depends on the attacking direction. Once the battle begins the fleets will automatically begin to engage each other. Each ship will stop moving when it reaches weapon range for the maximum distance of the longest range weapon equipped. Example: You have a ship with Mortars & Thud Cannons the ship will stop at Mortar range, not Thud Cannon range.

The battle ends when all of one player's ships have been destroyed. If both fleets are destroyed during the battle, it displays a defeat message and triggers a retreat response for both fleets. A draw occurs after 5mins, but only if both players still have active ships. If you accidentally engage a friendly target, both players should direct their fleets to turn around & head away from each other.
Ship combat occurs when one fleet engages another fleet while the other fleet is either standing still, guarding a base, salvage, or resource when they try to attack it.

When you have mortars equipped you can turn your ships around and moving in the opposite direction. By doing this you kite the enemy. To kite an enemy you keep his lead ship in your maximum attack range, while staying out of his attack range. That way when your mortar shells hit, they will damage all of the other players ships so you can win, but if the player is active and experienced this strategy will usually not work.

The best strategy to use in pvp combat is to have ships with close range guns ( Rippers/Thuds ) and to move them right on top of the enemy ships so they cannot use their ranged weapons ( Mortars / Most Rockets ) because you are to close to them. However if they enemy has close range weaponry as well the best ship to use is submarines with underwater torpedoes.

Submarines overall would have to be the best pvp combat ship, if used correctly and with skill they can take down almost any fleet providing the enemy does not have Sonar Pod Detection specials on their ships ( increases submarine and torpedo detection range ).

Using Submarines properly takes time and patience to learn and master, but once learned can be a lot of fun. Below are a few Clips to show you the Submarine strategy, tips and tricks.

Subs being used on a level 6 Draconian Salvage

  1. Subs are good but a seawolf fleet with DU4 and thuds just go in close, as you can see the direction of the torps. Thus go into the torps and when they pop up they're dead. Ok perhaps one SW will be damaged but he shall lose his sub fleet

    1. Most subs will have engines and can outrun the boats for the 10seconds they are above water.

    2. the sw's have engines too...and usually a higher level engine...unless the builder doesnt know his butt from a hole in the ground...if you can get your ships over(on top of them) the subs they cant shoot you...then when they come up, let them pull away and take them down if you have a close range weapon on board...they may get a shot or two off...but you will sink them normally ;)...

    3. Subs are quick ficx even if the sub fleet is destroyed, Id rather hit cargo 50 with subs and be untouched then use sws and possibly lose a ship or two
