PVP Base Combat Tips

Base Combat

Base combat occurs when one player attacks another base.

The initial combat starts with any fleets guarding the base, the attacking fleet engages any defending fleets separately, following the rules of Ship Combat, above.

After all defending fleets have been eliminated, or if there are no defending fleets, you engage in Base Combat.

Your fleets will appear in 1 of 4 corners of the base, depending on the direction from which you engaged them, and the Battle Timer starts. Your ships appear as if they were in a sea battle, but instead of enemy ships the enemy base appears with all of their structures. Their turrets, resource mines, research, and other buildings are displayed, and can be attacked by your ships, which in turn can be attacked.

You have 5 minutes to damage the base as much as you can, which is recorded by the Battle Timer at the top of the screen, after which the battle ends and the screen results display both what structures were destroyed and resources plundered from the enemy base.

The amount of resources pillaged depends on both the amount of damage dealt to the base and what buildings were destroyed. If resource mines were destroyed, you gain the resources that were unbanked in the structures, warehouses give you a percentage based on total amount of them and how many destroyed, and the outpost increases that amount further, but by an unknown amount.

For base combat, the attacking fleet can hold resources equivalent to 500% their max cargo.

The best Ship weapons combo's to use on Base's are Peacemaker mortars due to them having the longest range available. Do not go rushing in to someone's base without checking it out first, use a scouting ship to find the best possible angle to attack from and to gather a plan together. Try to minimize losses, if you lose your fleet or take to much repair time there most likely wont be much profit taken for your time. If you think that you will lose your ships or that there doesn't look like there is a lot of resources in the base your attacking then don't, move on and find something worth your while.

Another thing to remember is that its best not to attack and farm players right next to your base, this leaves you open to alliance and player retaliation, where as if you attack someone an hour away there's a high chance you wont be hearing from them again.

Check your surroundings, attacking an online player is not a good idea, look around for mining fleets from that player or messages in the chat log.  If your paranoid about a retaliation then clear out all of the opposing players surrounding fleets to give them a hefty repair time.

  2. Another tip would be to prep bases first. Especially for low level bases, you can send in one fleet to just attack the weapon platforms and then hit the retreat button in the top right corner. You can make several attacks, but you want to pull out before you do 25% damage to the base. Then send in your fleet with the most cargo space, and level everything you can. Having taken out some or all of the weapon platforms, you can spend a lot more time destroying resources and warehouses.

  3. Cutlass missles are good against low level bases. They fire over the wall, and out range cerbs and howitzers. You can destroy most of the platforms without taking any damage if you park far enough away. If the base has mortars, you want to NEVER stop moving. Just drive past once or twice to duel mortars. Sentinel missles will duel you at range, but cutlass missles will take them down before they do too much damage. Don't try cutlass missiles against high level bases, they simply don't do enough damage to upgraded weapon platforms.

  5. I've found a way to protect resources from being taken during a attack is to start research or upgrades on the items that require the most resources,,,when you need those resources cancel the research and your resourced will come back for use , but don't let the research time lapse. Resources being used for research or upgrades can't be taken during battle.
